Vail Valley Animal Hospital.
Dr. Charlie Meynier was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Thibodeaux, Louisiana. Where he affectionately still calls home today. He attended Louisiana State University where he received an early acceptance in to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. Simultaneously, Dr. Meynier joined the United States Army and embarked on a 13 year career as an engineer and 8 years as an officer. His military services took him down many paths and adventures of which he says today is still truly one of his “best experiences of his life”. Following vet school, Dr. Meynier was selected to attend a competitive equine orthopedic surgery internship located just outside of Austin, Texas.
Upon completion of his internship, Dr. Meynier joined Backstretch Equine Medicine and Surgery, where he practiced racetrack medicine throughout the country concentrating his practice in New Orleans, Kentucky, Illinois, and Texas..
Although practicing equine orthopedics was a great experience Dr. Meynier was growing weary of the extensive travel decided to settle down and move back to Austin, Texas in 2001 to practice small animal medicine at Brykerwoods Animal Clinic. He also volunteered at the Austin Humane Society as the primary veterinarian.
Charlie met his wife, Atlanta in Austin and they started their family. Their desire to raise their children in a small town with four seasons and the great outdoors nearby sent them to Colorado! The Eagle-Vail Animal Hospital was purchased in April 2007 and the adventure began.
Within a year, Charlie recognized the need for an emergency clinic and opened the Vail Valley Animal ER in 2008. Following that, the owner of a practice in Edwards was looking to retire, and in 2011, Charlie bought his second location and changed the company name to Vail Valley Animal Hospital & ER. Today, he continues to operate his veterinary practice in two locations, as well as the boarding facility and emergency clinic.
Charlie’s philosophy on animal care is to increase the quality of each pet’s life through comprehensive, compassionate, ethical veterinary care, disease prevention and client education. He states “our desires are to provide unsurpassed client/customer care and always exceed expectations.”Further more, he says “we earn our clients trust and business every day.“
Today Charlie and his wife, Atlanta, keep busy by enjoying family activities with their son, Jeep and daughters, Berkeley and Price, golden retriever, Orvis and a menagerie of other little pets. They are excited to raise their family in the Vail Valley.
