About Vail Valley Animal ER:

Vail Valley Animal ER provides Quality Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Monday Friday 8 am - 9 pm and 9 am - 9 pm Saturday & Sunday. Established in 2008 as the sole veterinary emergency clinic in Eagle and Summit Counties.  This means your pet will receive world-class veterinary emergency care with out ever having to leave the valley. We work closely with your regular veterinarian and a group of veterinary specialist, to include cardiology, radiology, orthopedics, and internal medicine, to provide the best care possible when its needed. Providing unsurpassed after-hours veterinary care is our continued commitment to our patients, clients, and referral community. Our emergency veterinary hospital is equipped with latest diagnostics allowing our veterinarians immediate access to test results.

General Pet Emergencies


Contact Vail Valley Animal Hospital and ER if you notice any of the following with your pet:


  • Any problem that persists longer than 24 hours
  • Any problem that worsens over several hours
  • Any systemic problems such as lethargy, loss of appetite, weakness and fever
  • Body temperature less than 100 degrees F or greater than 104 degrees F
  • Any indication that more than one body system (gastrointestinal, urinary, respiratory, neurological) is affected


Other Emergencies:

  • Trauma
  • Lacerations


Gastrointestinal Pet Emergencies


Contact Vail Valley Animal Hospital and ER if you notice any of the following with your pet:


  • Frequent bouts of vomiting or diarrhea resulting in large volumes of fluid
  • Inability to drink or keep water down
  • Blood or black material (digested blood) in the vomit or stool
  • More than three to four episodes of vomiting or diarrhea in a puppy or in a dog older than 8 years
  • Vomiting following suspected ingestion of foreign material (toys, garbage, rocks, etc.)
  • Suspected poisoning
  • Suspected bloat


Bleeding Pet Emergencies


Contact Vail Valley Animal Hospital and ER if you notice any of the following with your pet:


  • Bleeding from the nose, mouth, or anus
  • Bleeding accompanied by bruising of the skin, especially on the abdomen
  • Bleeding that cannot be stopped by applying pressure, if blood loss is excessive
  • Weakness, difficulty breathing, or reluctance to move after a bleeding episode


Lameness Pet Emergencies


Contact Vail Valley Animal Hospital and ER if you notice any of the following with your pet:


  • Obvious fracture of a limb
  • Non-weight bearing lameness persisting more than 12 hours
  • Swollen, painful joints or a gait that appears as if walking on "eggshells"
  • Paralysis of one or more limbs, lameness that initially improves but does not resolve in 24-48 hours

Location of Pet Services

All Vail Valley pet emergencies will be held treated at our Edwards, CO clinic.

We have expanded this location to include the most progressive and cutting edge technologies in animal emergency and critical care medicine for your pet. Emergency pet services are available during the week from 8am thru 10pm Monday thru Sunday & Holidays.  Services are provided by Dr. Charlie Meynier of Vail Valley Animal Hospital at our Edwards location next to Larkburger.


Payments For Pet ER Services


Payments are due in full at the time of services.


  • Acceptable forms of payment include: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Care Credit, and Cash.
  • Care Credit is a secured six month payment plan with no interest or initiation fees that can be applied for and used in the office with in minutes for those who qualify.
  • We apologize for any inconvenience, but checks are not accepted and payments are due in full at the time of service.

  •    8am to 5pm Monday thru Friday at both locations.
  • Monday thru Friday 8am - 9pm at our Edwards, CO location.
  • Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays 9am - 9pm at our Edwards, CO location.
